North Light Community Center was founded in 1936 as North Light Boys' Club by Principal Anne Wright and Police Captain Franklin P. Luckman as a drop-in center to divert youth from delinquency. The organization has organically evolved to meet changing community needs while maintaining a holistic approach to community support. Today, it provides a safe, nurturing environment where children learn and play, teens develop college and career skills, and families receive critical assistance. The center is committed to creating an inclusive, trauma-informed culture rooted in courage, empowerment, accountability, compassion, and creativity.
North Light's leadership includes a dedicated staff team with expertise in youth services, development, and operations, led by professionals like Kevin Ruff (Children's Services Director), Tyresse Hill (Teen Services Manager), and Arianna Neromiliotis (Development Director). The Board of Directors comprises 16 members from diverse professional backgrounds including education, finance, technology, and nonprofit leadership, providing strategic governance and community connections.
North Light offers Summer Camp (ages 4–12, June–August), KidZone after-school care (K–8th grade), Teen Services with college and career preparation, Sports Leagues, Community Classes (fitness, gymnastics, Spanish, line dancing), and Emergency Services including a food pantry with fresh and nonperishable items, housing and utility assistance, and referrals.
North Light hosts seasonal updates and events, including facility closures for holidays (Juneteenth, Independence Day) and community initiatives like the Sprayground sponsorship program offering expanded free public hours on summer weekends.
