Lutheran Settlement House is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit serving the community since 1902 with comprehensive programs in food access, homeless services, domestic violence support, education, and services for older adults. Operating from two locations in Fishtown and West Lehigh, LSH provides essential resources and programming to vulnerable populations across the city.
Led by Executive Director David Chiles and Deputy Executive Director Vashti Bledsoe, Lutheran Settlement House has a dedicated leadership team including directors overseeing community health programs, domestic violence services, homeless services, finance, data and evaluation, and development. The organization is governed by a Board of Officers and Members representing diverse professional backgrounds in social work, finance, healthcare, and community development.
LSH offers food access programs including a Choice Pantry and Farm Stand, homeless services through Jane Addams Place shelter, a bilingual domestic violence program, education initiatives, and comprehensive older adult services. Senior programming includes fitness classes, cooking, line dancing, card games, bingo, yoga, art, qigong, crochet circles, and wellness activities.
Lutheran Settlement House hosts regular community events including weekly fitness and wellness classes for seniors (Enhance Fitness, Chair Yoga, Qigong), creative activities (Art Class, Crochet Circle), social gatherings (Card Game Hour, Line Dancing), educational programs (Spanish classes), and food distribution events (Choice Pantry & Farm Stand). Most senior programs are free and open to ages 55+ with no registration required.
