Since 1984, SEAMAAC has served tens of thousands of immigrant and refugee families in the Greater Philadelphia area as one of the oldest and largest refugee-founded agencies in the region. With a workforce of over 80% bi/multilingual staff, SEAMAAC supports communities from 18 distinct linguistic backgrounds through education, health and social services, community development, and civic engagement programs. The organization affirms that immigrants and refugees are the foundation of America's prosperity and works to create an equitable society where all contributions are equally valued.

Founded in 1984 by refugees, SEAMAAC's journey reflects America's long tradition of immigration and refuge. The organization is committed to serving people regardless of race or national origin, providing a wide array of direct services and taking an active approach to building community leadership through education, organizing, and advocacy. SEAMAAC envisions a strong and unified society where immigrants and refugees work alongside other Americans to build shared political, economic, and social power, with all people living whole, healthy lives with joy and dignity.
SEAMAAC's Advisory Board includes members from diverse professional backgrounds, including representatives from Public Health Management Corporation, Harvard University, Comcast, and the Center for Applied Research, alongside independent advisors and nonprofit consultants.
SEAMAAC operates several key programs: the Urban Arts Entrepreneurship Program (formerly Hip Hop Heritage), an after-school arts program at Furness High School offering breakdancing, deejaying, music production, and visual arts with career development and financial literacy support; Health & Social Services supporting immigrant and refugee families through access to healthcare, social services, and community building; Community Development including the Mifflin Square Park and Neighborhood Planning & Organizing Project; and Civic Engagement and ESL and Digital Navigation programs.
SEAMAAC hosts community events including World Refugee Day celebrations, CommUNITY Celebrations, and neighborhood gatherings. Past events have included participation at the Philadelphia Zoo and community tabling at local venues like the BOK Building.
