The Trust for Public Land is a national conservation organization dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to quality parks, trails, and public lands. Since 1972, they've protected 4 million acres and created over 5,500 outdoor spaces, connecting nearly 10 million people to nature. The organization is led by President & CEO Carrie Besnette Hauser and an executive management team including a Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel, and Vice Presidents overseeing programs, communications, human resources, and advancement. They employ regional and state directors across the country, along with specialized experts in areas like conservation finance, community schoolyards, trails, indigenous communities, health, and climate resilience.
The Trust for Public Land's work focuses on three main areas: conserving land and culturally significant sites; creating and transforming parks, trails, and schoolyards; and scaling impact through policy advocacy, data analysis, and knowledge sharing. They operate the ParkScore Index to identify neighborhoods most in need of park access and run initiatives like the 10-Minute Walk Campaign, Community Schoolyards Initiative, and Black History & Culture program.
